Salvation is obtained by faith, which is believing in, trusting in, relying upon, and resting in Christ’s shed blood on the Cross, which is His finished work. This a person does from the heart (in their soul and spirit), and not by simply praying The Sinner’s Prayer parrot-fashion, although this verbal confession can be made once the person has received the free gift of salvation in his / her heart.

A person is saved / born-again when that person believes in his / her heart that it is possible because of Christ’s perfect substitutionary sacrifice on the Cross for him / her, and that salvation is obtained because of what He did, His shed blood, and not anything that person has done or can do.

The sinner’s prayer

Dear Heavenly Father

I come to You in prayer, asking for the forgiveness of my sins.

I not only confess with my mouth, but truly believe in my heart that Jesus is Your Son, and that He died on the Cross at Calvary so I might be forgiven and have eternal life in the kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus, I believe that You rose from the dead, and I ask You right now to come into my life and be my personal Lord and Saviour.

I repent of my sins, and will honour, worship and praise You all the days of my life!

Because Your Word is truth, I confess with my mouth that I am born-again and cleansed by the blood of Jesus! I believe in my heart that it is because of Jesus’ shed blood, His finished work, and not my works, that I have now received the free gift of salvation.
